McBride Moxy Book Review

Close to the Skin by Zara West

Bella escaped to New York from the small Greek island where she grew up to get away from the boyfriend she loved, but knew was wrong for her, and to start a new life.  For eight years she hid away in her quaint little tattoo shop creating her art through the tattoos.

The boyfriend found her, using his billions and connections to do it.  While she tries to tell herself he’s no good for her, she can’t deny her reaction when he kisses her, touches her, loves her.  Still his wealth is gained through illegal dealings and she wants nothing to do with that.  The last time Vernon did what was best for her, she was kidnapped, and worse.

Vernon doesn’t believe Bella when she says she won’t marry him.  He’s convinced that if he whisks her away to one of his private properties on a beach in the Caymans that she’ll change her mind.  He can give her everything, and he loves her.

Unfortunately, Vernon’s past catches up to him and endangers not only his wealth, but all that is important to him, including Bella.  It’s time for him to make hard decisions to protect not only his life, but Bella’s life as well.  They will use her to get to him.

I like that Bella Bell made the right decisions for herself and ran to a place she thought she could disappear.  I understand her wanting to have something of her own that she worked for, and made successful.  I like the cast of friends she has made.

Vernon really loves Bella, and honestly believes that since he can give her anything and everything she could ever want she will come around and agree to marry him.  He doesn’t understand her at all, and I love that about him.  He actually believes he is doing the right thing.

This is a highly entertaining story with a cast of characters that will make you smile.

It gets a 6 on the McBride Moxy Meter
